Embracing Your True Self: The Heart of Mediumship.
For anyone walking the path of mediumship — or really any spiritual journey — the very first step is often the hardest: learning to accept yourself just as you are.
That means embracing the whole package — your strengths, quirks, past experiences, and even the things you’ve tried to hide. For many of us, that’s where the real transformation begins.
When I first started out, I carried all the usual doubts: What if people judge me? What if they don’t believe me? What if they think I’m “too different” to be taken seriously? Those fears held me back. As a deaf medium, I used to feel that my differences would stop me from connecting with others. For a long time, I wanted to blend in and hide the parts of myself that felt “too much.”
But here’s the truth I discovered — the very things I wanted to hide were actually the keys to my strength. My life experiences, my hearing loss, my perspective — they gave me a deeper empathy and a stronger connection with spirit. Once I stopped fighting against who I was, everything shifted. My work as a medium became more authentic, and I felt freer in my own skin.
And that’s something I believe is true for all of us, whether you’re a medium or not. The moment we stop resisting ourselves and start embracing who we truly are, we create space for something bigger — love, healing, connection — to flow through us.
Remembering the Innocence of Childhood
When I think back to my childhood, before the age of ten, I remember this constant feeling of love running through me. I didn’t have to search for it — it was just there. I noticed the goodness in people instinctively. Even when I saw flaws, I still believed in their worth.
Looking back now, I think I was still closely connected to spirit, to that pure energy that children often carry before the world teaches us to doubt or judge. I forgave easily, trusted fully, and loved without conditions. It wasn’t because people were perfect — I could see their imperfections — but I also sensed something deeper, something unbreakable beneath the surface.
That perspective has never really left me. As an adult, I still find myself looking for the good in others, listening without judgment, and noticing the “superpowers” that people don’t always see in themselves. Sometimes all someone needs is to be heard, to have their story held gently, to be reminded that they are stronger than they realize.
And honestly, isn’t that what we all long for? To be seen, to be accepted, and to feel that unconditional love?
The Real Gift of Mediumship
This is what I’ve come to understand: at its core, mediumship isn’t about messages or predictions. It’s about love. It’s about spirit reminding us of what we’ve always known deep down — that we are worthy, we are loved beyond measure, and we are never truly alone.
I’ve seen how powerful this can be. In readings, people often walk in carrying the weight of grief, guilt, or doubt. But when spirit’s love flows through, something shifts. Shoulders relax, tears fall, and for a moment, the heaviness lifts. It’s not sadness I see in those tears, but release — the healing that comes from finally feeling held, seen, and understood.
That’s the magic of it. Spirit uses love to heal, to soften the pain, and to remind us of our connection to something greater. And I think that’s a message we all need sometimes, whether we’re walking a spiritual path or just trying to navigate everyday life.
A Final Thought
When we accept ourselves — flaws, gifts, and all — we open the door for love to flow more freely, both from spirit and from within us. That love not only strengthens our connection to the divine, but also deepens our connection to each other.
